Test Ride Commitment Deposit Policy
At Auto Assets Ltd, all of our motorbikes are fully prepared, inspected, and presented to a high standard before any test ride takes place. We encourage customers to take their time viewing the bike, inspecting it closely, and asking any questions to ensure it meets their expectations.
A test ride is available once you are happy with the bike and wish to take the next step. To ensure fairness for both our customers and our business, we operate a Test Ride Commitment Deposit policy.
This deposit confirms a genuine intention to proceed and allows us to offer insured, well-prepared test rides in a professional and transparent way.
How the Commitment Deposit Works
-
A commitment deposit is taken before the test ride begins.
-
For insurance reasons, all test rides are accompanied, with a member of Auto Assets Ltd following in a separate vehicle.
-
Test rides are time-limited and route-controlled.
-
Test rides may be cancelled or postponed due to weather conditions or other safety-related factors. This is always at our discretion and done in the interest of rider safety and bike condition.
What Happens to the Deposit?
If an accident occurs during the test ride
The commitment deposit will be retained and used toward the insurance excess.
If the test ride is completed and you purchase the bike
The full commitment deposit will be deducted from the final purchase price of the motorbike.
If the test ride is completed and you choose not to proceed
A £50 administration and re-preparation fee will be retained to cover costs such as re-valeting and returning the bike to retail condition.
The remaining balance of the deposit will be refunded.
Commitment Deposit Amounts

Customer Requirements
To take a test ride, customers must:
-
Hold a valid licence suitable for the motorcycle being test ridden
-
Inspect the bike beforehand and confirm they are satisfied with its condition
-
Agree to the time and route restrictions of the test ride
-
Accept that test rides are subject to suitable weather conditions
Why We Do This
Our priority is to ensure that every motorbike we offer is fully prepared and ready for immediate sale, rather than requiring additional preparation after a purchase has been agreed.
By carrying out all necessary inspection, valeting, and presentation work before a test ride takes place, we can ensure that once you have found the right bike, there is no unnecessary waiting for further preparation. This allows for a smoother, more efficient buying experience.
Given the nature of our business, we also need to ensure that test rides are the final stage of the decision-making process. This policy helps confirm that customers booking a test ride are already satisfied with the bike’s condition, specification, and suitability, and are genuinely considering proceeding.
We believe this approach allows us to offer a better experience for serious customers while remaining clear, fair, and transparent.
If you have any questions about our test ride policy, please feel free to ask — we’re always happy to help.
